The Ethiopian Capital Market Authority (ECMA) has officially licensed I-Capital Institute plc as a Securities Investment Advisor, marking another milestone in the country’s journey to develop a robust and dynamic capital market. This development is set to enhance the availability of professional advisory services for investors, issuers, and other market participants, further strengthening Ethiopia’s financial ecosystem.
With this latest addition, the number of licensed Securities Investment Advisors in Ethiopia now stands at three. I-Capital Institute plc joins Deloitte and Mr. Habtamu Eshetu Gebre, a seasoned professional with 25 years of experience, both of whom were previously granted licenses by ECMA. Deloitte became the first licensed entity, setting a precedent for excellence in the capital market advisory space, while Mr. Habtamu Eshetu Gebre received the first individual license, recognized for his extensive expertise.
ECMA’s Director General highlighted the rising demand for licenses as a positive indicator, noting that it encourages competition and drives innovation across the sector. The licensing of additional service providers is also underway, signaling a vibrant and evolving industry.
The Ethiopian Capital Market Authority urges the public to rely exclusively on licensed entities for investment advisory services. This ensures compliance with regulatory standards and guarantees access to professional, reliable guidance.
As the capital market landscape in Ethiopia continues to expand, the addition of I-Capital Institute plc underscores the country’s commitment to fostering a well-regulated and innovative financial environment.
